The Sun Valley Center for the Arts offers Stories of a Changing China, an opportunity to explore the political, economic and cultural realities of one of the most dynamic countries in the world. 

I think of China and the "mother" country to Japan where my father is from.  So my work references the Fu dogs as something more than the ones in Japan.  The history of interactions between the Orient and the Occident included trade of ideas, art and crafts.  The meaning of the dogs is altered when it is in Asia versus when it is in the West.   ~ Saya
